Bet you didn’t know that nearly 1/3 of an upholstered sofa’s weight is chemicals. There are over 8,000 chemicals that are legal to use in the manufacturing process of fabrics. Most of them have never even been tested for poisons, safety and toxins. It’s crazy.
Wrinkle-free or iron-free sheets contain Formaldehyde in order to avoid wrinkles. How insane is that?
Many of these chemicals are linked to cancer, male and female infertility and Autism to name a few. I was fortunate enough to interview one of the leading experts in textiles, Patty Grossman about fabrics and health. She talked about what to look for, what to avoid when buying fabrics for your clients and your own family.
People want to come home to healthier, happier environments. Zero toxin, vegan and wellness design is becoming the “new normal.”
