Viruses: Humans, Animals & Karma. The majority of us are consumed and scared about the spread of this new virus. Our lives, in the blink of an eye, have changed. Our routines have changed, we are hiding in our homes. We no longer hug or kiss our friends and family. Every aspect of our life has changed.
I believe that every action has a reaction. Karma exists and is real. The manner in which we have treated and continue to treat animals is despicable. It appears to be time for “payback.” Our inhumane, unimaginable behavior is killing us, literally. If this isn’t a wake up call to stop killing animals so we can eat them or rob them of their skins, then I don’t know what is. We can no longer hide behind the curtain of ignorance. We know the dark side of what goes on in factory farming. We also know the horrible outcome for animals and for humans.
Gene Bauer is the Founder of Farm Sanctuary, an animal protection organization. The Farm Sanctuary advocates for the ten billion farmed animals slaughtered and abused yearly. Gene recently wrote a very interesting article about the coronavirus, humans, animals & karma and how it relates to the way we humans have treated animals.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warns: “…3 out of every 4 new or emerging infectious diseases in people come from animals.” These include viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites, and they infect millions of U.S. citizens every year.”
The USDA defended and dismissed our concerns about diseased animals entering the food supply. Finally, after confirming mad cow disease in the U.S., the agency agreed that downed cows should not be slaughtered for human consumption. Unfortunately and sadly, other diseased and debilitated animals are still entering the US food supply, including half a million downed pigs every year.” Read the article written by Gene.
